Presidents Status Report
Vol 2 Issue 3 - March 15, 2010
Greeting All NATO Org Members:
There is so much happening so quickly and positively that a mid month issue became necessary.
Phase 3A happening from now till 1 May 2010 is establishing a firm provincial presence - and Phase 3B will THEN be our cross Canada recruiting and advertising campaign from May to Sept 2010. All this with the purpose in mind of having a firm organized base at HQ and in each province in Canada. We now are represented in nine of the ten and I hope in the next Status
Report to report that we are in all 10. There is no reason NATO Veterans Organization of Canada can not grow into the largest"all veterans" organization in Canada.
The use of the word "Interim" will be discontinued for all positions at Headquarters and Canada - interim suggests temporary - and there is nothing temporary about the NATO Veterans Organization of Canada. If you don't like the national or regional executive ,then you can "vote the rascals out "at the annual fall Annual General Meeting which will be held in the Fall!
The major changes to the NATO uniform highlights have had some comments. The current NATO Vet Dress Regulations will stand - with the proviso that there is a "grandfather clause" - the old items can continue to be worn officially. If you like the dickey and want to continue wearing it - fine. Alas no more NATO dickeys will be made or sold. Same for the black blazer and light brown pants. We are now working on a summer dress regulations.
We are also using where appropriate military terms - a Branch is now called a Unit - our Sec Tres is now the Adjutant etc. The NATO Vet Org of Canada is made up of military not civilians - military veterans that are more familiar with these terms.
A revised NATO EXEC Organization Chart by the Adjutant Cal Bellamy has been issues - and it already out of date. Cal will be issuing an organization chart monthly as we add and grow. Also a schematic or line diagram is being prepared . There will be the HQ Exec of the "Cabinet" - the President/2 IC /Adjutant etc- everyone you would expect to find at a HQ! The Regional Commanders of the 10 provinces will report through the National Regional Coordinator Doug Brunton. We will ask for feedback on major items before we issue Directives from HQ - but there is not time to go out with every item for comment in a quickly growing organization. You wont agree with HQ all the time !!
The latest news from Thom Joordens family - already passed on by the Adjutant - is family funeral is the 7th of May 2010, at 13:00 hours at the Beechwood National Military Cemetery - Members are ask to assemble at 12:30 hours -the Ceremony will take 15 to 20 minutes and will be outdoors at the grave site. NATO Vet members are invited, at the request of the family to meet with them at one of the local establishments - we might have to go to a larger establishment depending on numbers attending. Please let the Adjutant know if you are coming! This is not a NATO Org of Canada funeral - we are to be attendees - but I hope as many of you as possible can plan on being there at the Internment Ceremony. More details to follow.
Well that is it for this week
