Greeting Veterans
NOTE
The month of May for the NATO Veterans Organization of Canada (The Voice of the Modern Day Veteran) was by and large quiet but some important work took place in getting our messages out and being clearly heard.
This is a good sign and work continues progressing in all areas.
Regional reorganization - Under Doug Brunton, is progressing nicely with a total of 38 area coordinators now appointed across Canada. The area co-ordinators will soon begin a telephone campaign to encourage those in their area to renew their memberships for 2013. Our members are the backbone of our organization and this initiative will help keep all members connected.
Communications - Continue to take shape - two Press releases were issued and we are gradually coordinating the Web page/Twitter with the NATO Facebook site. We now have - thanks to Cal Bellamy - a method of communicating directly with every NVOC member.
Advocacy - Tud Kaulbach gave an excellent Paper recently at the bi-annual Meeting of the Royal Canadian Legion. NATO Veterans Organization of Canada is now zeroing in on the VIP program as an area where we can make progress in advocacy can be made and a means by which we can achieve our traditional stance on Long Term Care. The health and well-being of all Veterans is important and we can no longer see differing levels of care.
Policy and Procedures - under Jarrott Holtzhaeur - now has seven necessary policies in place as well as having the final Draft of NVOC By-laws changes, which are necessary as a result of new Government legislation with respect to not-for-profit organizations.
Things are shaping up and as we approach the summer season, your Executive will continue communicating the concerns of all modern day veterans to those who can help to change the current path of neglect of Veterans. We all served…during times of peace and in war, and we all deserve to be treated fairly.
With your continued support, we will remain 'The' Voice of the Modern Day Veterans; 90,000 of whom are currently serving in the Canadian Armed Forces, both Regular and Reserve Forces.
