Press Release Re: Meeting, Saturday October 16,2010

The NATO Veterans of Canada Ottawa/Gatinea Unit# 3 and the National Executive held a memorable historic meeting on Saturday at the RC Legion Kemptville Doug Brunton Vice President responsible for setting up new units announced the formation of the l6th unit in Comox British Columbia

The highlight of the meeting was a talk by Col. (Ret)Pat Stogran outgoing Ombudsman for Canadian Forces Veterans. He described his time in office as Ombudsman, the commitment and the trials and tribulations that go with it. He covered some very interesting highlights of his time in the ombudsman’s job.

After the presentation Gord Jenkins President of The NATO Veterans Organization of Canada made an important announcement.“I am pleased to announce the appointment and acceptance by Col.(Ret) Pat Stogran the current Veterans Ombudsman as the ’Honourary Patron‚ of the NATO Veterans Organization of Canada.”

The NATO Veterans Organizationof Canada (NVOC)exists to evolve as the One Voice for Post Korean Veterans up to and including the curent day veterans-the so called “modern veterans”. NVOC *Voiceof Today’s Veterans.

After the presentation and question session Gord Jenkins in appreciation of Col. Stogran’s enlightening talk presented him with a copy of, Official History of the Canadian Force in the GreatWar 1914-1919 by Colonel Duguid- Published by Authority of Minister of National Defence Ottawa 1938.

Col. Stogan accepted the book and said it will be a great addition to his library. Col Stogran not only thanked for book but, stated “he looked forward to being NATO Veterans Organization of Canada Honourary Patron” The meeting closed and a well informed group of veterans left to soldier on.
